Tyler, a chemist by day makes delicious Home brewed beers that have appeared at festivals all over New England and the Tri-State area. And this episode we are trying “Muffy Cakes” a Blueberry and Marshmallow sour that is out of this world. Tyler tells us the secret of getting a real marshmallow taste in a beer and we discuss whether Sours are a fad or hear to stay. We also try TCR’s Sweet Successions Milk Stout. And Tyler let’s us know how he got Chocolate and Fudge flavors into the beer without adding any Chocolate or fudge.

This Week we talk to Co-Owner and Brewer Jon Patrei of Phantom Brewing Co. (@phantombrewing) located in Hartford, Connecticut. Jon tells us all about opening Phantom brewing during Covid times. Being a Physical education teacher by day and brewer by night. We learn how he and his partner Bo met and came up with the name Phantom and the cool artwork on the merch. Jon talked about the people from all over the world that have stopped at Phantom for their amazing beers, such as, their Moon Baby Double IPA and Phantasma series Blood Orange Berliner Weisse. Sean and James from Crimson Cove Brewing (@crimsoncovebrewing). They tell us all about how their journey from bringing their beers to brew festivals to selling cans in local liquor stores. We taste their first commercially sold IPA called The Fancy! The guys tell us how they picked their Pirate Theme. We also hear how growing up in Waterbury Connecticut lead to both Sean and James having careers in Law Enforcement. 

Plus, Sean tells about his skills as a Ballroom dancer, slingin' barbecue and which 90s jams he listens to wile he cooks. James tells us which Connecticut brewery brews the worst beer and tells us a story of when he met The Queen Of England. We taste more of Crimson Coves home brew including a Hefeweizen and a Chocolate Strawberry Stout. We Talk Music including Sean and James performing in their own band! Our nose gets grapefruit pith and white grape followed by a face hole full of passion fruit and spicy tangerine rind | 8.5% ABV | NOT SO SOLID.....a real bitter aftertaste.

Wendy tells us about owning her first restaurant  when she was 27 years old and owning 9 businesses since.

We talk guns, smoking flavored nicotine and taste a beer brewed with barbecue ribs called “Figgy Piggy”.  We devoured their AMAZING, FINGER LICKING fall off the bone Ribs, Maple Butter Corn Bread, Mac and Cheese balls and so much more....... Honey Blueberry Ale | Fruit Beer | 4.5% ABV | 15 IBU | We use wildflower honey and blueberry’s to infuse in this American Wheat brew. The blueberry aroma and depth from the honey make this a brewery favorite.

Devil's Blood IPA | American IPA | 7% ABV | 70 IBUs | A triple hopped unfiltered IPA that boosts an overwhelming hop sensation and malty base that only the devil himself can deliver. We use an ungodly amount of hops in the kettle, fermenter, secondary fermenter. This brew is devilishly good!

Silver Medal Winner - TAP NY 2018

Coconut Cream Summer Ale - Summer Seasonal | Cream Ale | 5.2% ABV | Brewed with a corn flakes and coconut cream this beer is light and hazy in color. After one sip you’ll think you’re in the Bahamas.

Country Bumpkin Pumpkin - Fall Seasonal | Spiced Amber Ale | 5.6% ABV | A hint of Pumpkin with a ton of spice notes including Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Allspice, Ginger and Clove making this a Fall time favorite. Try it with our house made rimmer, optional.
